Poem: Gather Up the Fragments …

… he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained…John 6:12-13 (KJV)

There is POWER in LITTLE THINGS …

The bit that remains
after all is lost
The little change you have left
when you’ve gone bankrupt

The five loaves and two fishes
that would hardly suffice…
The crumbs and pieces
that men despise…

The little you can still do
when it’s already too late…
The few things that still work
after your BIG mistake…

The few sweet memories to hold
when things go sour
The few beats you can still rock
when the music fades…

Those few magic moments
amidst life’s struggles
Those few unexpected blessings
that make us giggle …

Those flickers of hope
in our long dark tunnels
Those drizzles in the drought
down our funnels

Therefore,
Just before you empty the bin and bow out,
Remember the POWER of LITTLE THINGS
and don’t despair…

Pick up the scrap
Despise not the fragments
For every crisis in life
is a blessing in a garment

Gather up the remnants,
for that is your miracle
And soon you will have
A masterpiece NOT rubble

Prayer:

It’s encouraging to know Lord, that there is power in the little I have left after my big losses (and careless mistakes)!

Please give me the courage to be faithful with this remnant, that I might hereafter build monuments to the glory of Your name. AMEN.
