One Erotic ‘Dinner’

“Dinner is served handsome”

Adebimpe had called out pulling SOJ’s cheeks playfully as she gave him a quick hug on the head and tried rushing back to the kitchen to quickly clear up. To her surprise, SOJ had pulled her back and balanced her on his laps on the sofa.

Adebimpe was stunned!

Afterwards, SOJ had turned her to face him cupping her supple face in both hands as he used to do in times past. ‘Bimpe blushed and looked down to dodge his gaze as it made her weak in the knees… But SOJ had insisted, raising her head up so her eyes could meet his.

Their eyes locked for a few seconds which felt like eternity, for it was as though time and the whole of heaven and earth stood momentarily still. Bimpe’s heart pounded against her voluptuous chest, which rose and fell like erupting mountains, threatening to burst open… And the lovely sight kind of added some colours to the already highly electrifying atmosphere.

Then carefully and rather deliberately, SOJ had said, “I love you so much baby… I regret everything I’ve put you through…”

Adebimpe couldn’t believe her ears! Her husband’s baritone voice and sweet words had sounded like the entire choir of angels rendering Handel’s Messiah!

She tried jerking herself as though to recover from the trance and ascertain whether this was a dream or reality when SOJ sealed her lips with the juiciest kiss of her entire life time thud sending her into a dizzy spell…

The kiss graduated for they were enraptured and engulfed in a deep and endless passion…

That of course was dinner for that night as Adebimpe’s food was left untouched till the following morning!

After a round trip or two to the moon and back again, SOJ got emotional and began pouring out his heart to his wife, seeking earnestly her forgiveness for his coldness and aloofness all these months. And coming to think of it, how time had raced- they’d spent almost a year in that unhealthy state!

Surely, evil beclouds a man’s judgement, having a blinding effect on the soul.

To God Who Answers Prayers…

“Thank You Jesus” Adebimpe had cooed in her heart as she squeezed her pillow tight as though the Lord of her life was right inside it. “Surely, You do answer prayers… ” she had continued.

In any case, in her walk with the Lord, she had learned to not allow any external force or circumstance shape her mood, feelings, actions or decisions but the Holy Spirit. And this resolution had kept her head high through it all.

Besides, the Lord had ministered to and instructed her to not resort to or rely on fleshy manipulation or any display of what the Apostle James termed as ‘superfluity of naughtiness’ to get her way through to her hubby, but to rather keep praying that the Holy Spirit would soften his heart and lead him to the place of conviction. And that she had done dutifully and patiently for months.

Finally tonight when she had least expected, Jehovah Rohi, the Covenant-keeping Shepherd of her soul had given His answers.

…evil beclouds a man’s judgement, having a blinding effect on the soul

Adebimpe couldn’t be more grateful!

True Confessions

Then SOJ started talking: there was this Pastor uncle of his, Uncle Tade, whom he had held in very high esteem since his childhood. Uncle Tade, who pastored a branch of one of the most popular Church networks in the nation was like a father and mentor to him.

Actually, Uncle Tade had always frowned at the display of love and affection SOJ had lavished on his wife.

“Forget all the westernized life style. You don’t treat a woman like that in this part of the world- especially a sophisticated lady (‘spoilt brat’ he actually meant) like Adebimpe…” (his assumption because Adebimpe had this frail delicate look). “They get to disrespect you and eventually, you lose your place as a man.” He had counselled.

Of course, SOJ had disregarded the counsel until the ugly incident which had led to the loss of Adebimpe’s six week old pregnancy, and the ensuing confusion, condemnation plus the entire drama of therapy and everything else following… All of which had deflated his ego and challenged the very essence of his manhood.

Unknown to anyone, that was the lowest point of his entire life as well. He had felt so alone that Tade was the only one he could really bare his heart to…

…the Lord had ministered to her and instructed her to not resort to or rely on fleshy manipulations or any display of what the Apostle James termed as ‘superfluity of naughtiness’ to get her way through to her hubby, but to rather keep praying that the Holy Spirit would soften his heart and lead him to the place of conviction.

Ungodly Counsel…

“What arrant nonsense! I wouldn’t take that from any woman…” Uncle Tade had roared in proud annoyance.

“What right has any woman to talk to a man that way? See what I’ve been saying? And imagine how the church is pampering them and empowering them to be disrespectful to their men. You do not treat a woman delicately in this part of the world.

“Check out all those great men of God with seemingly strong marriages in this nation. How do you think they keep their wives in subjection? SOJ see, for marriage to work, one of the occupants must be ‘mad’. If both are ‘sane’ then there is going to be trouble… The man loses his power…

“You don’t tell everything to a woman. Real men don’t do that… Women are not to be pampered but to be handled with iron hands and kept under subjection. The are to be hushed and silenced, else the get out of control…”

…when evil evolves, the student always blindly outperforms his teacher, and the trainee his mentor!

And on and on he had gone…

SOJ had felt truly empowered by His counsel which was as healing balm to his wounded and ailing ego. Of course, it was more enticing than the beggarly and apologetic idea of the therapy Reverend Tunde had offered. Therefore, he had taken Pastor Tade’s counsel hook, line and sinker-  to the letter and beyond.

This would have ruined his marriage totally had Adebimpe also chosen to seek counsel from friends and family, especially people like Linda.

An Eye Opener

Then sometime the previous week, SOJ had bumped in on Pastor Tade unannounced and had been stunned at what he discovered.

Uncle Tade’s wife, Aunty Shade had been throwing some tantrums over getting Uncle Tade to cough out some money for her flight tickets to Dubai for a short vacation- a trip which was obviously not on Uncle Tade’s priority list at that time because the family obviously had more pressing needs. However, the woman had gone on and on defying SOJ’s presence.

Of course, Uncle Tade’s arms had been twisted: he cowered in surrender and quickly wrote her a cheque for her ticket right there and then to save himself from further embarrassment.

” A man who uses the fact that he has a bad wife as excuse for being a bad husband is NOT wise for women will be women. If they were perfect, we wouldn’t need the fruits of the Holy Spirit anyway and a man’s ability to maintain a good marriage despite it all is the difference between him and the unbeliever. That is the greatest test of his Christianity and the greatest proof of the maturity of his relationship with the Christ!”

And to add insult to injury, the woman had snatched the cheque from him and matched away without even a word of “Thank You”!

SOJ had been highly disappointed. Judging from Uncle Tade’s counsels, one would have thought that his wife couldn’t have the guts to look him straight in the eyes let alone talk back at him; but see how the woman had just dealt with him and how he had merely cowered and made that huge sacrifice just to keep their home in one piece…

SOJ passed some time with his uncle and departed, but not without a lesson and a pang of guilt:

Imagine how the man who had been teaching him to be harsh on his darling Adebimpe had doted on his own wife.

Surely, when evil evolves, the student always blindly outperforms his teacher, and the trainee his mentor!

Poor Adebimpe. Imagine the ordeal he must have put the woman through while she had remained dutiful and loyal to him through it all. Surely he had got it all wrong! Truly, as Revered Tunde had once mentioned during one of those therapy sessions,

“A man who uses the fact that he has a bad wife as excuse for being a bad husband is NOT wise for women will be women.

“Lord, please forgive me. I’ve been wrong” he prayed and straightaway resolved to reject every evil counsel. It wasn’t worth it after all.

He then vowed to go back to the drawing board and do whatever would be required to work out his marriage with …
