Day 168: All By The Same Power…
1Kings 18:44-45 (ESV) And at the seventh time he said, “Behold, a little cloud like a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.’”And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain.

Things have been through really. The bills keep running and debts are piling. You are not meeting up at work and retrenchment is threatening. Marriage is under pressure, business is not so good and generally as it were, crisis is looming.
But just when you are about losing it completely, Heaven flashes you a hint of hope suddenly:
“I understand things are hard”, your creditor says, “ok, please come over and let’s renegotiate the payment plan.”
“This would have been a sack, but I’m changing my mind and giving you a query instead. Take this as my final warning…”, your Manager says.
“I really do love you”, your spouse said this morning, “and though things are hard, by His grace, we can weather this together”
The power that causes small change is also able to cause a great change.
Your heart warms up a bit. But just when you are about heaving a sigh of relief, the devil comes with paralysing thoughts as usual:
Suddenly you remember how the last payment plan renegotiation didn’t really help matters, and how this final warning from your boss might just be delaying the eventualities, and also probably how your spouse said even sweeter words to you just last month, yet things aren’t any better.
Then immediately, you begin to fret as to whether you wouldn’t end up with dashed hope again like before.
However, that needn’t be!
History needn’t repeat itself if you know how to hold on to and sustain every hint of hope heaven flashes at you in gloomy circumstances.
The first thing, when you see a flicker of hope in a seemingly hopeless situation, is to realize that the same power which causes small change is able also to cause a great change!
In other words, God does not send Hints of His promises to spite us or make us cry! Every hint of hope from above is indeed a sure signal to hold on to- because it means Help Is On The Way for real!
For He who began this good work by sending this hint, is also able to accomplish what He started to the glory of His name.
So do you see a hint of hope in the dark today? Please hold on!

Lord, it’s really mind blowing to know that contrary to the devil’s lies, You never send any of these flashes of hope to spite me or make me cry, but as sure signals that You are on the way to help me…
I remain eternally grateful for this, and for the fact that Your power which sent these small hints of Your presence and ability is also able to create and perfect the big changes I desire.
Please perfect all which concerns me and let it be unto me according to Your word and precious promises in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
